Clowning Around

Ellie had her 5th birthday party on Saturday, one week early.

Here are her previous cakes (castle, Backpack, pug, pizza).

This year, she wanted a clown and a clown cake. So here's her clown:

It was a gorgeous day, the weather was perfect, and my girls had such a good time sticking the nose on the clown:

Rocking their balloon hats:

Singing songs, and loving their balloon creations - instantly recognizable and loved Elmo, bumblebee, camel, and Mike Wazowski (Monsters, Inc.).

I could throw a party like this everyday of my life and still not express how much I love these two amazing little girls.

Thanks, all! I knock myself out for these things, and hope that someday my kids see that it's one of my ways of saying, "I love you." Although we've set the bar for Ada's birthday rather high. She'll be 2 in January and now think that "Happy Birthday" means the clown. Yikes.

MPJ, it actually was a good party, to my relief. And Ellie's talking about it again today, which is great.

Chrystal, it does! The clown was absolutely amazing with the kids. She made Ellie a smaller crown, then kept going back and adding stuff to it the whole time until it got huge. A clever way to bring focus back to the birthday girl.

Rob, we all did, once I let go of what I'd wanted/expected from the party.

Jennifer, thanks! I can't post the picture in comments, but here's a link to a close-up:

Thank you so much for the cake link! I also looked at past party themes and got some great ideas! You do a super job!

Your cakes are so great! I have to admit I am afraid of clowns, so I hope my two don't ever want a clown birthday. :)

Adorable photos!

Happy Birthday, Ellie!

It looks like a fabulous party. So glad everyone had fun.

Thanks, Jennifer! I really love doing it.

Tracey, Silly Jilly is the least scary clown possible. I think this is partly because she doesn't wear a hat or paint her whole face. Also, she just has a very unintimidating manner. But still, I guess it's glad that I didn't invite you all over last minute after all!

Thanks, CCW. It was fun.

I really like your balloon hat. So cool. I am not such a big fan of clowns but your clown with the pink hair is way cute. Happy Birthday.
