Naughty Words

While I was changing Ada's diaper the other day, she was vigorously swinging the octopus toy that hangs over her changing table. On one particularly energetic pass, the heavy plastic clip that attaches the toy to its hanging string whacked me in the eye. I have no idea how it missed my glasses and hit my eye so hard, but it did a real number on me, as my father would say. Fortunately, I blinked in time so it only hid my eyelid, but wow did it hurt. And surprise me.

"Puffer duck!" I said.

I have been cultivating my potty mouth since elementary school, and 4-1/2 years of parenthood have ruined me.

I said "puffer duck!"

I've already seen Abby mimicing my tone and beat when it comes to talking. The other day I snapped at the dog with "G*d D*mned Dog" and she spouted back a quick "Gaa Daa Daag."

I've been warned that "we need to work on your language" at least once.

Puffer Duck indeed.

I like puffer duck that would be a nice change from the variety of "bad" words that fly from my mouth on daily basis.

Sorry about your eye!

Wow! Sounds like Abby's going to be an earlier communicator! : )

CCW, oh, trust me, I do that, too. I *pretend* that Ellie got her screaming g-damnits from her father, but we all know better. Fortunately, she doesn't do as well with f-k, so that buys me some time to clean things up.

I'm going to have to try that...puffer duck! Somehow I can't quite get "fiddlesticks" to roll off my tongue in a fit of fury or pain.

I love "puffer duck"! My personal favorite, which I've managed to work into non-kid time as well, is just to say "oh expletive". Just that. It's remarkably freeing! :)

LOL....I say that too, but the funny thing, my daughter [with T21] says 'Puffer Duck' and it sounds like the real thing!!! I need to say the real thing so it comes out like 'Puffer Duck' so she aint sent to the principals office!

Liss, I'm emabrassed to admit that I say, "Fiddlesticks," too. Sigh.

Tara, and I thought I was being unintentionally unique with "puffer duck!" I bet it's adorable when Emma Sage "curses." But principal's office? I need to catch up on my reading; I thought she was still in school at home!
